Have you ever wanted all of the best parts of a loaded baked potato, but in dip form? Well, do I have good news for you!
This easy dip recipe is packed with all of the flavors of a loaded baked potato (like bacon, cheese, sour cream, and green onion) - only you won't even have to turn the oven on.
Loaded Baked Potato Dip is the perfect appetizer for football season, or for bringing to potlucks and holidays.
It's a cheesy dip that requires no oven time, no melting, and frankly - no work! I like to use freshly cooked bacon, but you could swap that for store-bought bacon bits as an easy shortcut.
The one thing I know for sure is that you're going to be obsessed with this baked potato dip recipe! Trust me.
You Will Need:
- Sour cream: I recommend one with a good quality and thick consistency like Daisy or Good Culture.
- Ranch seasoning: Also known as ranch dressing mix, this can be found in the salad dressing aisle or you can use homemade ranch seasoning.
- Cheese: Sharp cheddar cheese is the best! I recommend shredding fresh from the block, but pre-shredded cheese is absolutely fine.
- Bacon: For the best results, cook and crumble your bacon yourself (rather than using bacon bits). I find about 8 slices is the perfect amount.
- Green onions: For both flavor and garnish.

Step two: Mix the ingredients together until well combined and smooth.
Cover the dish tightly and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before serving.
Step three: Transfer the chilled dip to a serving bowl and top with additional cooked bacon, green onion, and cheddar cheese.

Storing Leftovers
Transfer any leftover loaded baked potato dip to an airtight container and place in the refrigerator. It will keep well for at least 3 days.
Note: Depending on the brand of cream cheese used, your dip may harden once in the refrigerator. The best way around this is to allow the dip to rest at room temperature for 20-30 minutes before serving it.
Shortcut Option
If you're in a time crunch, use bacon bits in place of the cooked and crumbled bacon. You'll need about ½-1 cup - adjust according to your taste buds and measure with your heart!
