Let's get started, and I'll show you how to make these easy Air Fryer Ham and Cheese Sliders.
Ingredients
- Hawaiian rolls: These are a sweet roll that should be easy to find in your local grocery store. If you can't find them, regular rolls are fine to use. Just add 1-2 tablespoons of honey to the sauce to add some sweetness.
- Ham: Any style of deli ham you like will work well for this recipe!
- Swiss Cheese: Sliced swiss cheese compliments the ham perfectly, but you can choose whatever cheese you like best.
- Butter: This is the base of a yummy, savory sauce for pouring on top of your ham and cheese sliders.
- Sauce ingredients: like poppy seeds, dried minced onion, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.
How to Make Air Fryer Ham and Cheese Sliders
Start by forming an aluminum foil rectangle that will fit your sandwiches. The edges should be 3-4 inches high.
Cut your rolls in half widthwise, and place the bottom half of your rolls into the aluminum foil. Layer in about half of the sliced deli ham.
Add the swiss cheese, overlapping if necessary. Add in the remaining deli ham, and then the tops of your Hawaiian rolls. Set aside.
Combine your melted butter with the poppy seeds, dried minced onion, garlic powder, dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and pinch of black pepper. Whisk well to combine.
Gently pour the sauce on top of your rolls, trying your best to do so as evenly as possible.
Gently place the rolls in their aluminum foil holder, into the basket of your preheated air fryer.
Top with an additional sheet of foil, and tuck it in carefully. Place the basket back into the air fryer and cook for 12-15 minutes, or until the rolls are nicely browned and the cheese is melted.
Remove from the air fryer, and cool for 2 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
Variations and Substitutions
Hawaiian Roll substitute: If you can't find Hawaiian rolls and don't want to make your own, you can use regular rolls and add sweetness in another part of the recipe. For ham and cheese sliders, you can add 1 tablespoon of honey to the sauce you pour on top of the rolls to help sweeten them.
Deli meats: If you don't want to use ham, you can switch it up by using whatever deli meat you like most. Just be sure to change the cheese to one that compliments your meat of choice.
Cheeses: If you don't like swiss, you can swap it out for any sliced cheese that has good melting qualities. Cheddar, mozzarella, provolone, havarti, and gouda are all good options.

Yes! To freeze them, simply assemble them and wrap them tightly in foil. Do not add the butter and poppy seed topping, and do not bake them. Place them in a zip top freezer bag and place in the freezer for up to 3 months. When you're ready to bake, thaw them completely before baking in an air fryer or oven.
If you want your sliders to hold their shape, avoid using excess sauces OR assembling too far in advance of baking. For the best results, assemble your sliders just before it is time to bake or serve.
