You need just 4 super simple ingredient to get started with this air fryer roasted garlic!
Ingredients
- Garlic: Look for tight, even heads of garlic that are not sprouting. My bulb was not sprouting visibly on the outside, but was beginning to on the inside. This is fine, but fully sprouted garlic will be bitter and strong.
- Olive Oil: You can use high smoke point oil. I used olive oil for the flavor, but you can use vegetable oil or avocado oil if preferred.
- Salt: You can use any finely ground salt you have on hand.
- Pepper: I like to use ground pepper for convenience, but you can use freshly ground black pepper if you prefer.
- You'll also need a small amount of aluminum foil for wrapping up the bulb of garlic.
Instructions
Use a sharp knife to remove the top portion of your bulb of garlic.
Cut a square piece of foil, approximately 10" wide and 10" tall. Place your bulb of garlic in the center.
Pull up the sides of the foil, creating a "bowl" by folding over the edges and crimping them.
Drizzle your olive oil on top of the bulb of garlic.
Sprinkle the garlic bulb with salt and pepper.
Bring in the edges of the foil, and twist to secure them at the top. This will create a little sealed foil pouch.
Preheat your Air Fryer to 375F for 3 minutes.
Add the foil wrapped garlic to the basket of your air fryer.
Cook for 20-25 minutes.
Open the foil packet and check the garlic. It should be soft and fragrant. Some parts should be lightly browned.
Remove the garlic bulb from the air fryer and cool briefly before peeling the cloves.
Storage
It's best to use your roasted garlic as soon as possible in your recipe of choice (or spread on crackers!), but you can store the roasted garlic packed in olive oil for up to 3 days in the fridge.
It will become mushy, have an odor, and have discolored spots. Discard any roasted garlic that has gone bad.
