Hi, I'm Dorothy, and I'm the author, recipe developer, and photographer here at Dash for Dinner.
I started this website shortly after I had my first child, in an effort to help other families who were struggling with cooking delicious meals while balancing it all - just like I was.
You see, before I had my son, I was an avid cook. I loved preparing everything from scratch and would spend many hours each week dedicated to the task. I loved making everything from homemade bread to simple desserts to share with friends, co-workers, and family.
But once I had a crying baby on my hip and was running on mere minutes of sleep, suddenly cooking became an enormous chore rather than a beloved pastime.
After getting through the first six months or so by running in survival mode, I knew I couldn't do frozen dinners and paper plates forever. That's when I purchased my first Instant Pot - and everything changed.
Finding a Way
I had heard that this magical device would cut the cooking time in half, and (best of all) it reduced the hands-on cooking time, which I definitely needed with a clingy toddler.
After I fell in love with my new Instant Pot, I started dreaming of quick and easy ways I could prepare the homemade dinners I always loved to make - but didn't have the time for anymore.
Soon I was digging out my dusty old slow cooker, purchasing an air fryer, and discovering the wonders of skillet meals, Dutch oven recipes, and sheet pan dinners.
I knew that I couldn't be alone in my conundrum. I knew that Moms (and families) had to be struggling with the same issues, and so I started to wonder if there was I way I could share my strategies and recipes with the world.
The Beginning of Dash for Dinner
Soon after that, Dash for Dinner was launched and I started posting my first recipes. I was no stranger to food blogging and recipe development, so I was excited to get started with a new focus: creating quick and easy recipes for the busy home cook.
After spending 20+ years in the kitchen preparing meals for those I love, I know what families enjoy, and I'm well aware of the time constraints of busy parents.
Dash for Dinner is now my full-time job, and I'm passionate about taking the skills I've learned over the past two decades and using them to create simple, approachable recipes that your family will love.
